About Compass Braille

Category: Braille

What we do... Compass Braille has been transcribing and producing braille in various languages since 1990. Initially working on Hindi Braille Bible transcription and then, as technology progressed, developing new in-house software. Having surpassed the original goal of 11 Indian languages CB presently produce Braille in more than 55 languages and continues to work on new ones. The Braille products are despatched to more than 125 destinations in parts of Asia, Africa, Oceania and Europe.
Who uses our braille... Reading materials for partner groups' projects are transcribed, produced and despatched by Compass Braille. Requests for Braille come from those working among people with visual disability, operating projects for the blind or from other outreach groups who produce or use reading materials for their own projects. Our products are computer generated so we can produce large or small quantities and our Braille is made using methods that result in a user friendly, durable product.
Who receives our braille... Mostly our Braille goes to partner groups for use in schools, churches, vocational training and self-employment schemes as well as hostels, drop-in centres and mini-Braille Bible libraries for 'house churches'. Our Braille is also used at annual summer camps for adults and children from various backgrounds where new experiences are often shared with sighted people.
Why equal access?... Our policy is to offer EQUAL ACCESS to the Bible and through the work of our partner groups offer INCLUSION and OPPORTUNITY to people with visual disability. We are always looking for new opportunities. If your organisation produces Christian literature or operates overseas programmes that use printed materials, perhaps you might like to consider making your materials equally available to people with visual disability. We can help you do this - so why not contact us to discuss the possibilities. Contact us: +44 (0)1858 438260 or email via our contact us page.
